Located in the heart of Berlin at Choriner Str. 76, Schwarze Pumpe is a charming café that successfully captures the essence of a traditional East German pub. With its inviting, worn-industrial aesthetic and a warm, friendly staff, it delivers a laid-back atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a long day.
Patrons rave about the unique charm of this establishment. Koen describes it as a quintessential "pub-on-the-corner" where one can enjoy hearty bites paired with a good draft beer. Both Conrad Eades and David Reed highlight the delicious food and fantastic drink offerings, making it a true gem for both tourists and locals alike. The simplicity of the menu, which is displayed on a board rather than printed, adds an element of authenticity. Walter Phippeny emphasizes the care put into each dish, encouraging early visits for the best selection.
Iris Potruch's recommendation of Kase spaetzle epitomizes the cozy, honest fare served at Schwarze Pumpe. With reasonable prices and a perfect blend of flavors, each dish feels lovingly crafted. Overall, Schwarze Pumpe is not just a café; it's a delightful experience where you can enjoy local culture and fresh, delicious food in a welcoming environment.

Nice "pub-on-the-corner" with a kind of worn industrial look, where you can enjoy a nice bite to eat and a good draft beer (or another drink of course) served by the friendly staff.

Just the sort of bar that you want to find on holiday, but rarely do!We loved the laid back atmosphere of this bar, and both the beer and food were brilliant. This is a good honest friendly local bar. I wish I had something similar where I live.NB: Only takes cash!

Very friendly and laid back bar with reasonable prices. I had a very nice Kase spaetzle that I recommend having with your drink.

Schwarze Pumpe ist a traditional, East German pub and eatery. They don't have menus: just what is written on the board. When they're out, that's it. Show up early, if you want to choose from the full offering. And, when the menu is limited like this, you know they're putting a lot of care into what they ARE serving. Enjoy!

Perfection was achieved tonight. The beer, the wine, the service, the food, the atmosphere, and, to too it all off, a 3 piece of incredible virtue.

Authentic German food in a cute space. The food was incredible and the staff were fun! More reasonably priced than other German restaurants in the more tourist areas.

This pleasurable encounter in the middle of prenzlauer berg is a bar with mega staff and good food. The käse Spätzle is really good. And what does a person want more. Good staff good food and a beer. We will definitely come back

A rare non smoking bar/restaurant.We went there with a big table of about 10 people during a busy time. I ordered before everyone got there and my food came very quickly. My friends did order a little later and to be honest they probably just forgot his order. It happens. He did get his food.Cash only. Thankfully I had cash with me.Highly recommend
